Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent times.
Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez’s comments to ITV last year prove that he believes Tottenham Hotspur are potential Premier League title winners.
Mahrez’s future was speculated about last summer, after he played a starring role in helping Leicester win the league.
And his comments at the time, suggested that he wanted to stay in the Premier League, due to the competitiveness of the division.
“It is a super league and I would like to stay here as long as possible,” he said.
“It [the Premier League] is the best league in the world, the most exciting, where there is the most at stake.
“In the Premier League there is a greater depth of teams who can do it with City, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool. They can all win it.”
Mahrez’s comments can only be good news for Spurs, as they have once again been linked with the Algerian international recently.
Tottenham are said to be keen to sign the 26-year-old, who is valued at around £30 million (Telegraph) – and the fact he considers Mauricio Pochettino side to be genuine title contenders shows the progress that the North London side have made.
Tottenham pushed Leicester all the way last term, and they have been Chelsea’s closest challengers this time around.
Mahrez is now said to want out of Leicester, and his previously stated belief that Tottenham could become Premier League champions, suggests that a move to the Lilywhites would appeal to the trickster.
