Everton have plans on breaking into the Premier League’s top four over the coming years.
With the news that Riyad Mahrez is hoping to leave Leicester City (Telegraph) this summer recently breaking, Everton should be plotting a move for the Algerian trickster.
Everton have made big promises about their intentions in the transfer window, but so far Farhad Moshiri’s claims have perhaps not been backed up by any big name signings.

While Everton have made some very astute additions – notably in the form of Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye – they are yet to make a signing which has really raised eyebrows.
However, the arrival of Mahrez at Goodison Park would certainly announce Everton’s intentions for the years ahead.

Mahrez has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, so Everton would have to persuade the winger that a move to Goodison Park would be his best option.
Yet, when Romelu Lukaku challenged Everton to show more ambition, an addition like Mahrez is surely the sort of target which he was talking about.
And Everton should at least be making an attempt to bring the Leicester winger in, if they are serious about gatecrashing the top four in the near future.
