Riyad Mahrez is reportedly set to sign a new long-term contract with Manchester City following months of speculation on the Algerian international’s future.

According to the Sun, the 31-year-old winger will pen a new deal with the Premier League champions that will see Mahrez spend the remainder of his peak years with City, with the attacker set to earn £160,000-a-week with this fresh contract.

Mahrez has been linked with a move away from City this summer with PSG reportedly keeping tabs on the former Leicester City superstar, however, the forward is now ready to sign a new contract with the Etihad Stadium side, ending months of speculation and rumours about his future.

The African winger’s current deal expires next year, and talks of a new contract have been reported for some time, yet it now looks like Mahrez is ready to sign new terms with City after his most productive goalscoring season yet with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Mahrez bagged 24 goals in all competitions last season as the Algerian won his third Premier League title with City as the Manchester side came close to reaching the UEFA Champions League final yet again, with the forward scoring in the 3-1 loss to Real Madrid.

With Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus set to leave City this summer, tying Mahrez down to a new deal could be a smart move from Guardiola as the Catalan manager aims to integrate Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez into the first team for next season.

City have an impressive record over the past 12 months of major players signing new deals at the club, and Mahrez following this trend is a good sign for what is to come from the Manchester side next season in what could be an exciting year.

Indeed, Mahrez is heading into the new campaign off the back of one of his best goalscoring years ever, and the Algerian will be a member for City if they’re to end their Champions League hoodoo that has denied them from creating history over the past few years.
