Tottenham Hotspur reportedly wanted Riyad Mahrez before his move to Manchester City, and should now look again at the winger.

With so much optimism at Tottenham right now, Spurs fans will be hoping that Mauricio Pochettino is able to make up for the two quiet transfer windows this summer by getting some marquee names through the door of their stunning new stadium.
Spurs have done incredibly well once again this season, and could still end the campaign with a Champions League trophy to help entice potential transfer targets during the coming months.
And one player that they should consider looking at when the window opens is Riyad Mahrez, amid recent reports from the Daily Mail that the Algerian is unhappy over how much game-time he has received since his £60 million move to Manchester City.
The London Evening Standard reported in 2017 that Tottenham were monitoring Mahrez, who has scored six goals and contributed three assists in 26 Premier League appearances this term – though he has only started 13 league games. He has also provided four assists in the Champions League.

The 28-year-old’s ability to play anywhere in the forward line would arguably make a worthwhile target to consider if Manchester City are open to the idea of letting the former Leicester City man leave in the summer.
He will surely not come cheap – you would imagine that the Cityzens would at least want their money back – but Pochettino is exactly the kind of manager that could make that sort of fee look like a bargain with a player of Mahrez’s ability.
Tottenham have so much momentum right now with their new stadium and progress in Europe, and that should inspire the club to set their sights high this summer. And if Pochettino remains a fan of Mahrez, then perhaps he should be one of the men near the top of his shopping list amid reports that he could be looking for a move.
