Tottenham were linked with a surprise move for Danny Drinkwater, but should they move for Riyad Mahrez instead?
Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater in action
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with making a shock move for Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater, by The Sun.
Drinkwater is a Premier League winner from last season and an England international, but claims of a £20 million bid appear odd considering the numerous midfield options already have.
If Tottenham are really keen to make a move on last year’s title winners, there are other players who would better improve their squad than Drinkwater.

There is none better to consider than Riyad Mahrez, coming off the back of a stunning 2015/16 campaign.
The reigning Premier League player of the year is unsettled at Leicester, boss Claudio Ranieri has admitted, speaking to ESPN.
This is in response to reported interest from Arsenal, Tottenham’s bitter North London rivals who pipped them to second place on the last day of the season.
Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez
Quite simply if Arsenal are making a move for a player as outstanding as Mahrez, who could be available, Tottenham need to be in the hunt as well if they are to keep pace with their rivals.
Mahrez proved last season he is a real difference maker, scoring 17 league goals and providing 11 assists.
Tottenham have wide options like Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Heung Min-Son, but none reached double figures last season, and Mahrez would improve the team instantly – unlike Drinkwater who might not even get into the team.
