Leeds United were having a look at Coventry City winger Jodi Jones when he suffered the injury that will keep him out for the season.
With the Coventry Telegraph reporting ahead of Coventry City’s League Two clash with Stevenage in November that 15 scouts would attend the game, including a representative from Leeds, Jodi Jones would have been forgiven for thinking that his display in that game would be one of his most important of the season.
The Telegraph reports that Jones has been linked with Leeds in the past, so it would have been a surprise if he was not one of the players the Whites were looking at during the game.
Unfortunately for Jones, he would suffer a devastating injury during that very game that would ultimately rule him out for the rest of the season.
He may be wondering whether his chance to move up in the near future has gone, but perhaps Leeds should not shut the door on the possibility of renewing their interest at some stage in the future, especially when you consider comments made by a boss from one of the Sky Blues’ rivals.
“He’s far better than this level, he moves far better than this level and was a threat all day.
It would be a major gamble to make a move while Jones is sidelined, of course, but that kind of praise should tempt Leeds to keep the young winger on their radar ready for when he returns to action.
If he rediscovers the form he showed before sustaining the injury, Leeds should undoubtedly look to make a move for the starlet as, before his injury, he appeared to have the potential to go a very long way.
