Goodwin believes that Celtic have been better than Rangers so far in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Rangers are as many as 13 points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in second place in the standings.
The Gers have a game in hand, and there are also two Old Firm derbies left to be played this campaign.
According to The Daily Record, the SPFL could decide to call the Scottish Premiership today and crown Celtic as champions.
Goodwin told The Scottish Sun: “If you were to go on current form and the way the two teams at the top were playing, I don’t think anyone could deny Celtic were in a far better place than Rangers.
“They have dropped 11 points more than Celtic since the turn of the year. Celtic are deservedly out in front. They have been the better team this season.
“Flip it and look at the teams down near the bottom, Hearts have only one four league games all season. We have eight games left, they would probably have had to win four, possibly five.
“Of course it could have happened. I don’t have a crystal ball. But it’s highly unlikely Rangers were going to catch Celtic and Hearts were going to need a helluva turnaround in their form to catch the teams above them.”

Deserved winners
Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past eight seasons, and they are favourites to make it nine in a row this campaign.
While Rangers could still push the Hoops if the season resumes, it is hard to see Lennon’s side collapse in the final weeks of the season.
Once the current season has been called off, planning can start for the summer transfer window and for the 2020-21 campaign.
