Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told The Guardian that Dele Alli is the best player in his age group in the world.

Pochettino has also suggested that 21-year-old England international midfielder Alli is better 22-year-old Manchester City star Leroy Sane, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

“When you compare Dele Alli, 21 years old, with all the players in the world – not only in Europe, in the world – I think he is the best,” Pochettino told The Guardian. “In his age. In his form. Assists and everything.”

“Yes, but this season,” added Pochettino with reference to Sane. “Last season? Who was the best? Dele, no?”

Rival fans have responded to Pochettino’s claim about Alli. Below are some of the best comments:

Who is better – Alli or Sane?

Alli’s form and performances so far this season have not been at the level that they were in 2016-17, but there is no doubt that the Tottenham midfielder is one of the best young players in the world.

The 21-year-old is a key player for Tottenham and the England national football team.

Sane, though, is probably better, especially based on the City star’s performances based on this season.

The Germany international has scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in 20 Premier League starts for City so far this season.

During the 2016-17 campaign, the 22-year-old scored five goals and provided three assists in 20 league starts for the Citizens.

Alli has scored six goals and provided nine assists in 28 Premier League starts for Tottenham so far this season.

In 2016-17, the English youngster scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 35 league starts for Spurs.
