Nottingham Forest are once again without a manager, and as you can imagine, the rumour mill is well and truly up and running.

Steve Cooper has been strongly linked, but in the hours after Chris Hughton’s departure, Chris Wilder emerged as a potential candidate, with Nottingham Live reporting that he’s open to taking the job at the City Ground.

Interestingly, within minutes of this article coming out, a certain Rio Ferdinand backed up that claim, stating that the information in the article was accurate on his Twitter account.

So, why should we care about this tweet from Ferdinand?

Well, the former Manchester United man is very well-connected within the footballing world, and he’s predicted things like this in the past.

Indeed, hours before Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Manchester United, Ferdinand sent a cryptic tweet that seemingly hinted that CR7 was headed to Old Trafford, and as we all know, that soon came to pass.

Ferdinand will certainly know Wilder, having interviewed him a number of times for BT Sport, and it sounds as though he’s heard something to suggest that the former Sheffield United boss wants to come to Nottingham.

Whether or not Forest make this happen remains to be seen, but it looks as though the Tricky Trees have a chance to appoint Wilder.
