Rio Ferdinand suggested on BT Sport that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The former Manchester United central defender made the comments after watching the striker’s post-match interview following the FA Cup final win against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening.

The Gabon international was coy on his future when he was interviewed by BT Sport, and Ferdinand believes that it is a sign that the 31-year-old is leaving.

Aubameyang said on BT Sport when asked about his future, as transcribed by The Daily Mail: “I’m not thinking about this, I’m going to celebrate with my team-mates.”

Ferdinand said on BT Sport, as transcribed by The Daily Mail: “I think he’s [Aubameyang] gone from that reaction. He’s already decided.

“‘I’m going to enjoy this with my team-mates’ – he sounds like someone who is going elsewhere. Arsenal need to do all they can to keep him.

“He was unbelievable, Jesus. But the Arsenal fans adore him. Is he going to find that elsewhere in his career?”

Indispensable for Arsenal

Aubameyang is arguably the best player on the books of Arsenal, and the striker is indispensable for the Gunners.

The striker was superb for the Gunners in the FA Cup final, as he scored both goals in their 2-1 win against Chelsea.

According to WhoScored, the former Borussia Dortmund star scored 22 goals and provided five assists in the Premier League this past season, and scored 22 goals and provided five assists in the league during the 2018-19 campaign.

If Arsenal are to finish in the Premier League top four next season, then they have to keep hold of Aubameyang, who has one year left on his current contract.
