Jack Harrison is the only attacking player who Leeds United have signed this summer.
The Whites have added just the two senior players to their squad – left-back Junior Firpo, along with the former Manchester City winger.
Leeds signed Harrison on a permanent basis for around £11 million.
The 24-year-old has been at Elland Road since 2018 and seems to be getting progressively better under Marcelo Bielsa.
Harrison helped United end their Premier League exile in 2020 after 16 years out of the big time, before then scoring eight goals and setting up another eight during his debut season in the top flight last term.
And Rio Ferdinand, speaking during Leeds’ visit of Manchester United on Saturday, suggested on BT Sport that Harrison represents a ‘beautiful piece of business’ for the West Yorkshire club.
He said: “Beautiful piece of business. Delivers, scores goals, assists – even more than that, his energy, the way he governs that left-hand side.
“I think his all-around game, he picks the ball in these types of areas, he’s very direct.”
Mauling
Ferdinand is right because let’s face it, £11 million is a bit of a bargain for a player like Harrison, who will only continue to improve at Leeds.
But he was helpless on Saturday as Bielsa’s side suffered a 5-1 mauling by the Red Devils.
Harrison did the defensive side of his game quite well in combating Aaron Wan-Bissaka but, going forward, he was non existent and that contributed to Leeds looking quite toothless in attack for the most part.
