Rio Ferdinand has given his take on Leeds United’s result at Elland Road at the weekend on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.
Leeds played out a goalless draw with Arsenal at home in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were denied by the frame of the Gunners’ goal as many as three times and created a number of chances to score.
The Whites also played most of the second half with a one-man advantage after Nicolas Pepe was sent off in the 51st minute.
Former Leeds defender Ferdinand has suggested that the West Yorkshire club were unlucky not to win against Arsenal.
Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “Leeds opened them up on numerous occasions.
“They hit the woodwork, they can’t believe it, did someone make the post or the crossbar a bit thicker or something because the amount of times they hit the post and woodwork was just crazy, they couldn’t believe their luck.
“I felt that Leeds came off that pitch trudging, thinking, ‘How the hell have we not won that game?’”
Disappointing result for Leeds United
Although Arsenal went close through Bukayo Saka, Leeds will feel that they should have picked up all three points from the encounter.
The Whites did everything but score, and they will be bitterly disappointed that they ended the night with just a point.
The positive for Leeds is that they created chances and hit the frame of the goal, which suggests that it was just ‘one of those nights’.
