Rio Ferdinand has said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE that he thinks that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has convinced Harry Kane to stay at the club.
The former Manchester United defender has said that in the past, he has wondered if Kane needs to leave Spurs to win major silverware.
Ferdinand now thinks that Mourinho has convinced the England international striker to stay at the North London club.
The Englishman has said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “I said a few times in the past, ‘Does he need to leave Spurs to win trophies?’ And I think Jose Mourinho would have convinced him now to say, ‘No, we can do it here. We are second in the league now (before Leicester City’s win against Leeds United on Monday), we are not even probably playing at our best yet, we have not clicked properly or perfectly yet, we are still finding our best Xi maybe’.
Harry Kane is not leaving Tottenham Hotspur
Kane has been on top of his game for a while now and has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world.
The England international striker is 27 years of age, and it is clear that he does not plan to leave anytime soon.
If the 27-year-old wanted to leave, he would have done so by now. With Mourinho now the head coach of Spurs and given his pedigree and reputation, Kane will know that he can win trophies under the serial winner.
Tottenham are just two points behind leaders Liverpool in third place in the Premier League table, and perhaps they could launch a challenge for the title.
