Rio Ferdinand has revealed to LUTV that he’s been speaking to Leeds United new boy Rodrigo.
The Premier League side splashed a club record £30 million to sign the 29-year-old from Valencia a little earlier this summer.
But Leeds fans are yet to see what their money has bought up close due to the global health emergency.
It remains to be seen when the Whites’ passionate supporters will be allowed to return to Elland Road.
Followers of the West Yorkshire club are famous for the atmosphere that they drum up inside their stadium, making it something of a fortress.
And Rodrigo has told former Leeds defender Ferdinand that he’s been told all about the fanbase.
He told LUTV: “I was talking to Rodrigo before and he was talking about hearing about the fans and whatnot and I’m sure they can’t wait to get involved when the fans are back in the place.”
Rodrigo is yet to make a huge impression for Leeds, it has to be said.
It’s still so early in his United career, but the Spain international conceded a penalty on his Premier League debut and then was hooked at half-time in the win over Fulham last week.
There’s a lot of work to do, but class is permanent and he’ll hope to open his account in this afternoon’s trip to Sheffield United.
