West Ham United were beaten 5-1 by Arsenal in Premier League action yesterday.

Rio Ferdinand has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of West Ham United’s match against Arsenal, that from the moment he saw the team that Slaven Bilic picked he feared the worst.

West Ham fell to a 5-1 to loss against Arsenal, as their terrible start to the campaign continued.

And Ferdinand believes that the lack of quality available to Bilic at the moment was highlighted from the team which they put in the London derby.

“Looking at the team sheet, this was one of the weakest West Ham teams in recent years,” the former Hammers defender said.

“If the keeper was not in goal, it’s double figures. He’s made about five or six unbelievable saves.”

West Ham are currently ravaged by injuries, with their options in defence looking particularly short.

The Hammers were without the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Sam Byram yesterday, and James Collins also pulled up with injury in the opening stages of the contest.

West Ham were simply not able to cope with Arsenal throughout the match, and they slipped to a heavy defeat.

The Hammers are now in 17th place in the Premier League table, and they are having to look nervously over the shoulders.

Bilic’s men are next in action against high flying Liverpool at Anfield next weekend.
