Tottenham Hotspur striker Heung-Min Son has netted four times already this season.

Rio Ferdinand has told the London Evening Standard that he felt that Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son was a good player from the moment he first played against him.

Ferdinand came up against the South Korean international in 2013, when he was coming towards the end of his career with Manchester United.

The Red Devils were up against Son’s former side Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, and Son caused Ferdinand some problems in the contest.

Although United ran out 4-2 winners, the former England international was impressed by Son’s impact.

And Ferdinand is not surprised by the resurgence that Son has enjoyed at White Hart Lane so far this season.

“Son has taken up the mantle after Kane’s ankle injury and has been given a bit of freedom. You can tell he’s enjoying it,” Ferdinand said.

“I played against him in the Champions League when he was at Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

“I thought he was a really good player back then, he had really good movement and I could tell he had the qualities to play at a high level.

“At Spurs he got off to a good start last season, but faded and now he is doing well again. It looks like he really means business and it’s great for the manager that he has someone to step up if Harry is not there.”

Son has netted four goals in the Premier League already this season, after breaking back into Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The tireless forward now looks to have an important role to play, and he could be selected to lead the line in Tottenham’s match against CSKA Moscow later this evening.
