Rio Ferdinand has told his FIVE YouTube Channel that he would be amazed if Chelsea do not try to sign Newcastle United target Leandro Trossard from Brighton. The Belgian is out of contract at the end of the season, at Brighton.

Trossard, 27, has been in electric form this season. The Belgium international, who is expected to be travelling to Qatar to be part of Robert Martinez’s side, has scored seven goals in 12 League games. But his future is in doubt.

Voetbal Belgie have reported that Arsenal are interested in signing Trossard, while Dan Ashworth is said to be keen on landing the £25million-rated at Newcastle. But of course, Graham Potter has swapped Brighton for Chelsea.

Ferdinand spoke about Trossard and the winger’s future on his latest video. He says that he would be stunned if Potter does not try to organise a reunion between himself, and Trossard at Chelsea. The race is hotting up.

“This guy is doing major bits right now. If Potter doesn’t go back there to try and sign him I’d be amazed. The best part of his game is being creative. He’s just scored a few goals lately, that’s not even his game,” Ferdinand said.

Chelsea have numerous options in Trossard’s position. Raheem Sterling was brought in, in the summer. They have Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic. Callum Hudson-Odoi is out on loan at Leverkusen.

But Trossard would easily surpass those players in terms of form at the moment. In regards to his price tag, at £25m, then he would be a bargain. The temptation to reunite with Potter may be tempting for the Belgium superstar.

Whether Trossard would thrive at Chelsea is another question. He is starring at Brighton because he is a big fish in a small pond. At Chelsea, he might just be another player. But he has the quality and confidence to be more than that.
