Over the last decade, Manchester United’s recruitment in the transfer market has been beyond abject.
From player incomings to player sales, the club haven’t had much success, regardless of who has been in the dugout, whether it’s David Moyes or Louis van Gaal.
A lack of footballing structure, which is now being built at Manchester United, has been invisible since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
It’s not the reason for the team’s decline, but you certainly feel it has played a huge part and fans are now hoping for a change with INEO entering the building.
Rio Ferdinand was part of the post-Ferguson era and he saw the start of this muddy slide into oblivion, before heading to Queens Park Rangers and then retiring.
One call Manchester United made in 2014, when van Gaal was in charge of the club, was to sell Danny Welbeck to rivals Arsenal.
The now-Brighton star, who scored at Anfield over the weekend, was sold for £16 million, and aside from injuries, he has gone on to have a healthy club and international career.
Ferdinand made it clear that Welbeck ‘should have stayed’ at Old Trafford and this is something he regularly communicates to him, as he told FIVE.
Danny Welbeck at Manchester United
On if he messaged Welbeck when he scored v Liverpool: “Straight in the group chat,” said Ferdinand
“Is that what is going on? Nice. Welbz, man! He should have stayed at Manchester United. I always tell him that. He should have stayed.”

Danny Welbeck without injures
Throughout the 33-year-old’s career, he has always hit a brick wall of injuries that haven’t allowed him to showcase his true form.
During his career, he has never played a full 38-game season without an obstacle of some sort falling into his path.
Despite that, Welbeck has still managed to remain in England’s top-flight and find the back of the net.
Not forgetting that he has repped England on 42 occasions and scored an impressive 16 goals.
