Speaking on Vibe with Five, Rio Ferdinand has been speaking about Arsenal and their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang scored the Gunners’ first goal of the season at the weekend as the London club beat Norwich 1-0, and while that was a positive result for Mikel Arteta’s side, Ferdinand believes the biggest thing for Arsenal was that the Gabon international was back amongst the goals.
On his day, Aubameyang is amongst the best strikers in world football, and Ferdinand believes that if he can keep finding the back of the net, Arsenal will soon find themselves in a better position.

Ferdinand spoke about Aubameyang’s potential influence in the coming weeks.
“The biggest thing for you guys is that Aubameyang scored, your talisman, if he plays well and scored goals Arsenal will jump up the league. Since he signed his new deal he’s struggled for form, he’s struggled for goals. He’s got that goal now, so let’s see you boys start motoring. Because as much as we take the mick out of you, I do like to see Arsenal do well, I’ve got to be honest,” Ferdinand said.
Easier said than done
It’s all well and good for Ferdinand to say that if Aubameyang hits form Arsenal will be fine, but it’s going to be tough for him to get back to his best.
The striker is playing in a team that reportedly has big problems within the dressing room, while he’s not really settled in this side, featuring as both a left-winger and a number nine at different points.
Aubameyang needs to be the focal point in a creative side, but unfortunately, it’s hard for Arsenal to provide him with the platform he needs to thrive right now.
