Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Arsenal are ‘lucky’ to have Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka in their ranks, as he told Vibe with Five.

The former centre-back added that he is loving what the two Arsenal academy players are doing at the club.

Over the weekend, both Smith Rowe and Saka scored during their side’s 2-1 win against Brentford.

It was just another example of how the Hale-End duo are the shining lights in north London and long-term England stars.

Ferdinand joked that come the summer ‘big clubs’ will try to lure their talents towards their direction, as he praised the attacking duo.

“You lot are lucky that you have Saka and ESR in this team,” said Ferdinand. “I am glad that you have got them.

“ESR is doing his thing. I loved him from the beginning of the season. He has been in my dream team and everything.

Ferdinand then added in a sarcastic manner: “I think he is one other big clubs will be looking at. Saka definitely.

“All jokes aside, Mikel Arteta is building an environment the young players want to play in. The young players he is building are exciting.”

Mikel Arteta has a fight on his hands to finish in those Champions League places at the end of the season.

If they are to overcome the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and Wolves, then it’s their star duo that will have to do it.

Not only are they producing the goods for Arsenal now, but down the line, they will save the club millions and millions.

That’s an area of the pitch the Gunners don’t have to worry about because it’s sorted for the next decade, at least, unless someone else drags them away from the club.
