Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand does not think that playing in the newly-formed European competition would be great for Spurs.
Ferdinand said on BT Sports: “For someone like Spurs, I think it’s a nightmare.”
The Europa Conference League is essentially the third-tier competition in Europe.
It is behind the Champions League and the Europa League in terms of prestige and prize.
The winners of the Europa Conference League will play in the Europa League.

Now, Tottenham are a big and ambitious club who have been challenging for the Champions League places in recent years.
Spurs would feel more confident of getting into Europa League via their Premier League position than by winning the Europa Conference League.
However, the Europa Conference League could be a competition in which the new Tottenham manager allows the youngsters and fringe players chances.
