Rio Ferdinand reminded football followers on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE that he wanted Manchester United to sign Thomas Partey before he moved to Arsenal.
Arsenal signed the Ghana international midfielder from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.
Former United defender Ferdinand was impressed by the display produced by Partey during the Gunners’ 1-0 win against the Red Devils at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
The former England international has reminded everyone that earlier this year, he wanted United to sign Partey from Atletico in the summer of 2020.
Ferdinand said on The Beautiful Game Podcast on April 27, 2020 that he wanted United to bring in the 27-year-old, as transcribed by TEAMtalk.
The Englishman said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “I said a while ago, back in April, before that even, when I was talking about who should Manchester United buy, that was my guy.
“You have to give massive credit to Arteta. The way his team set up they absolutely pressured Man United. They pinned them back.”

Good signing for Arsenal
Partey has hit the ground running at Arsenal and has already established himself as an important player in manager Mikel Arteta’s team.
The Ghana international had a very good game against United, as he drove the team forward, defended the back=line well, and was a huge figure in the middle of the park.
According to WhoScored, Partey took one shot which was on target, had a pass accuracy of 93%, won one header, took 79 touches, attempted three dribbles, and made four tackles, two interceptions and one clearance.
With the 27-year-old having settled into life at Arsenal so well, the Gunners fans will hope that the midfielder gets even better.
