Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that Thomas Partey is not the most important player in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team.
The former Manchester United defender believes that Gabriel Jesus or William Saliba is the most important player in the current Arsenal team, not the £45 million (Football.London) midfielder.
Ferdinand made the comments in response to Arsenal fan Joel Beya saying that Ghana international defensive midfielder Partey is the most important player for the Gunners.
Rio Ferdinand on Arsenal star Thomas Partey
Joel Beya: “Thomas Partey is our most important player. I am telling you.”
Ferdinand responded: “I don’t agree. Your most important player is Jesus or Saliba because if those players come out of the team, the drop-off from that level is massive.”

Good point
In our view, Rio Ferdinand is right about Arsenal defensive midfielder Thomas Partey.
Yes, the Ghanian is a brilliant footballer and did well against Chelsea in the Premier League at the weekend.
But, Arsenal are used to playing and winning without him.
Well, kinda.
Partey has had injury problems during his time at the Gunners so far in his career.
Now, of course, when the 29-year-old is fit and available, he plays for Arsenal and his importance in the team cannot be undermined.
But, if Partey gets injured, then Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has options in his squad to cover for him.
Who would Arteta play if Jesus suffered an injury?
