Rio Ferdinand feels Manchester United are repeating the same old story amid these transfer rumours involving Al-Ittihad striker, Karim Benzema.
With the January transfer window open, talk has emerged about Erik ten Hag’s faltering forward line bringing in a number nine to aid youngster, Rasmus Hojlund.
When the name of ex-Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was put forward to Rio Ferdinand, he admitted ‘how can you say no?’.
But the former Manchester United centre-back also admitted that he would be ‘very surprised’ if it happened because of the finances it would take to bring him in, as he told Vibe with Five.
The 36-year-old is now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia and you would imagine that he would be on some serious dough.
Sources have told HITC Football that Manchester United themselves aren’t looking to sign the former Ballon d’Or winner, nor are Al-Ittihad willing to let him go.
Never say never, especially when it comes to football transfers, but that’s a solid no all round, with Rio Ferdinand sharing his thoughts.
Karim Benzema to Manchester United
“That’s just going back to what we were doing before,” said Ferdinand. “We have done it with Cristiano, we have done it with Falcao, we have done it with Cavani and with Zlatan.
“Listen, Benzema. How can you say no? Probably not (on if Man United can afford it). That’s why I don’t see it. I would be very surprised.
“But, one thing I would say, one person needs that more than anyone else around right now and it’s Hojlund. He needs that somebody to look and learn from.”

Manchester United need to forget about the transfer window
So, Man United have spent, spent and spent. Yet, they haven’t moved forward, if anything, they have gone backwards.
Added to that, players aren’t improving, the new faces that arrive aren’t looking anywhere near their value and it’s all resulting in pretty poor performances from the team, again and again!
So, rather than continue to spend and make more mistakes. How about Man United actually improving and making better of what they have before they splash the cash again?!
And if they can’t move forward or show positive signs, in that regard, then it’s pretty obvious that the man in the dugout isn’t good enough.
