Rio Ferdinand raved about the performance of Tottenham ace Hugo Lloris against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, when speaking as a pundit during BT Sport’s broadcast of the Champions League last 16 tie, labelling the Frenchman as ‘phenomenal’.

Spurs beat Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate, and they really were excellent during both legs, against a side who are currently sitting top of the Bundesliga.

Tottenham proved that they are capable of mixing it with Europe’s best during their two clashes with the German side, and they will believe that they can go all the way this season.

They had to defend for the majority of the first-half against Dortmund, however, and it was very much a backs to the wall job, with Hugo Lloris making a whole host of exceptional saves.

And Ferdinand offered high words of praise for the 32-year-old, when speaking as a pundit during BT Sport’s broadcast of the Champions League clash on Tuesday night:

“Hugo Lloris the goalkeeper has been phenomenal, making ridiculous saves.”

The France international joined Spurs from Lyon in the summer of 2012, for around £8 million, and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers.

Lloris has received criticism for his performances this season, but he has been truly excellent during Tottenham’s last two games, proving that he still has what it takes to play at the very highest level for some time yet.
