Rio Ferdinand has told BBC Sport’s coverage of Mexico’s 0-0 draw with Poland that Hirving Lozano has been in “devastating form” in the Champions League and is an “elusive” talent – amid reports Everton and Palace want him.
Lozano, 27, has been a crucial part of Napoli’s side that currently sit top of Serie A – yet to be beaten in the league. In 19 appearances, he has had a hand in seven goals. Though, the Mexican has only started 10 of his 19 outings.
Indeed, the £38million man is first reserve for the likes of Khvichi Kvaratskhelia and Gianluca Raspadori. But he has still made an impact even if his game time has been irregular under Luciano Spalletti. Premier League clubs are keen.
Area Napoli report that Everton and Palace want him, with Frank Lampard’s side even in contact to sign him. But he has remained at Napoli and the chances of him leaving with Napoli sitting top is unlikely. Ferdinand is a massive fan.
“An elusive talent. The way he plays. He was at Ajax, identified as someone to take Napoli to the next level. £38m, most-expensive Mexico player. As a full-back, he is the kind of player you don’t want to play against,” Ferdinand said.
“He is capable of running off the ball, a good pace, jinky. Asks questions of his opponents, happy to come off either side – equally as comfortable and he poses a threat. In the Champions League, he has been in devastating form.”

He has surely eclipsed both Everton and Palace. Yes, he might prefer to start for Napoli but he is a player that is of Champions League quality – if not, Europa League level. He is a player that will want to join a side in Europe.
The chances of him leaving Napoli with the potential of a Serie A title on the horizon is small. But next summer, he may want a change – and the Premier League could come calling. He has outgrown Everton and Palace, as things stand.
