After Arsenal made things look easy against Fulham with a 3-0 victory, Rio Ferdinand picked Martin Odegaard over Bukayo Saka as the league leaders’ most important player.
The Norwegian captain has registered 10 league goals and 6 assists in the league this season and has a strong claim to be the best midfielder in the country on form. In fact, the likes of Jamie Redknapp and Jose Enrique have crowned him as the top dog this season.
Now, Rio Ferdinand has said that Martin Odegaard is more important to Arsenal than Bukayo Saka after Mikel Arteta’s side maintained their 5-point lead at the top of the table.
Rio Ferdinand picks Martin Odegaard over Bukayo Saka as the Arsenal MVP after Fulham win
While some believe that since his breakthrough, the ‘unique’ English talent has been the Gunners’ finest and most key player, it seems as if the tide is shifting towards the £30 million (Sky Sports) man.
When quizzed about whether Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka were important to Arsenal after their win against Fulham, Rio Ferdinand explained on ‘Vibe With Five’, “I think [Odegaard has been more] influential [not better] in the team, the rhythm of the game a lot of the time goes through him.”

The Manchester United legend also agreed about the point that while the Hale End graduate could be benched for a game for one of the Gunners’ other forwards and it would not affect the side as much as if the club captain was unavailable for a game.
Arsenal are lucky to have both
Unlike Rio Ferdinand, who was confident about his take after the triumph against Fulham, most fans and pundits alike would struggle to decide who of out Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka was most important to Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta can count his lucky stars that the club produced the most in-form winger in the division, while Odegaard is the closest thing to Mesut Ozil in the current day and age.
To have players of such quality and calibre, and that too at such young ages is a blessing for Arsenal.
