Tottenham Hotspur could be set to go another season without a trophy, after being beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand has told BT Sports Premier League Tonight Show, which was broadcast on 23rd April, that Tottenham Hotspur should go and spend £70 million on a proven winner this summer.

Spurs’ squad have made giant strides in recent times, to become Premier League title contenders.

However, when the pressure has been on, Spurs have repeatedly faltered.

Tottenham finished last campaign in terrible form, as they attempted to catch Leicester City.

And, this time around, they were beaten 4-2 by Chelsea at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.

Ferdinand feels that Tottenham’s lack of experience is hurting them, when it comes to the biggest games.

And the former Manchester United man has urged Spurs to go out and sign a proven winner in the summer transfer window.

“You’ve got to spend that [£60/70 million],” Ferdinand said, when asked who Spurs should sign this summer.

“Look at Manchester City, when they won the league for the first time. Even if it’s one player – Yaya Toure, he knew how to win. That spreads through a team. They can look along that line and think, how is he preparing. Spurs haven’t got that in their squad, and that’s the worrying thing. They keep falling.”
