Rio Ferdinand has told his official YouTube channel that Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe, Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have been ‘outstanding’ for Arsenal.
The former Premier League defender also made it clear that without the Arsenal youngsters the club would be in a ‘worse shape’.
In recent weeks, it’s Saka and Smith-Rowe who have shined, with another teenage talent in Gabriel Martinelli also returning from injury and adding some much-needed freshness to the North London club.
Nonetheless, Ferdinand has been impressed with the younger Arsenal players who have stepped up during the club’s crisis moments.
“I think Arsenal have really benefited from believing and investing in young players,” said Ferdinand. ‘Saka, Emile, they have been outstanding players.
“Willock, at times has come in and done stuff and Maitland-Niles at times. I think without the young players in the squad then Arsenal would have been in worse shape.”

If Arsenal’s more experienced players can come to the party then Mikel Arteta will have a serious blend of quality and youth to choose from.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the main guy that Arsenal fans want ripping up defences once again because if he can get going again then they can really climb back up the table.
But, at this moment in time, Saka is the main guy at Arsenal and his recent performances have been pretty impressive given the pressure he has had to work under.
