Rio Ferdinand has gushed over Diogo Jota and claimed that he’s someone who isn’t content with ‘chilling on the sidelines’ and his performances since joining Liverpool prove that, as he told his official YouTube channel.

Imagine getting a dream move to Liverpool and then finding out you have to compete with the dazzlingly dangerous Sadio Mane for a starting berth.

Some would be in awe of a player etching his name into the legendary Premier League books, others would struggle because of the pressure, whilst a certain Jota would take it head-on and force his manager to change his previously famous front three into a front four.

Manchester United legend, Ferdinand, was in awe of how Jota has taken to proceedings on Merseyside and how his teammates are sharing the vibe that they ‘love him being there’.

“Mr Jota does it again,” added Ferdinand. “He is on absolute fire. What a find he is. Not a steal at £40 million, but still not many people saw him as a player coming to Liverpool and being someone who’s contending for those starting positions.

“Not coming in and being a role player and chilling on the sidelines. Getting 10 minutes here and half an hour there. He’s pushing for a starting position given his output of goals.

“Comes in. Bang! Looks confidence. The team look like they love him being there. Who wouldn’t? Five goals in five starts in the Premier League.”

Like Ruud van Nistelrooy in his prime, Jota is looking utterly destructible inside the penalty area, albeit his success has so far come in short samples compared to the previously underrated Dutch legend.

Nonetheless, it has been a quite magnificent start to life on Merseyside for Jota, who seemingly hasn’t been fazed by the size of Liverpool and the pressures that come with it.

Either way, it’s another bit of eagle-eyed transfer business by Jurgen Klopp and the under-appreciated figure in the boardroom in Michael Edwards.
