Rio Ferdinand has told his official YouTube channel that Mikel Arteta is the ‘right man’ for Arsenal despite their pretty horrendous start to the season.
The former England defender believes Arsenal have struggled in the recruitment department and their current standing can ‘change quickly’.
Arsenal suffered yet another defeat over the weekend when Everton were 2-1 winners at Goodison Park to pile more misery on the North London club.
As things stand, Arsenal are in a relegation battle and Ferdinand delivered his verdict on where the club is at.
“Arsenal, wow,” said Ferdinand. “This is going to be a tough long, old season. But this is where you find out.
“Do you have characters? Do you have personalties in your changing room? Roll your sleeves up and say ‘yeh, this is us. We ain’t going to have this because it’s actually an embarrassment to our football club. The history of our club’.
“It’s a tight league. It can change quickly. As much as I am hammering them and having a laugh. It can change quickly. And Arteta, I think he’s the right man in the job. I think he’s got a squad. I don’t think it’s a very cohesive squad. It’s not a squad you can say that has had fantastic recruitment.”

It seems as though the Arsenal board are going to back Arteta given that there aren’t any really noises that he has ‘x’ amount of games to save his job.
If that’s the case then they have to also back him all the way when the transfer window re-opens next month because if they don’t then things will get worse.
Arsenal aren’t a club that are renowned for being fantastic dealers in the transfer market, so this is the time to leave their best business to their most critical point.
