Rio Ferdinand told his official YouTube channel that Tottenham are going to be ‘in the mix’ to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Before a ball was kicked this season, some even questioned whether Spurs would finish in the top-four, but Ferdinand stated that they will ‘definitely’ finish in the Champions League places.

Four points from their recent encounters against Manchester City and Chelsea proves that Jose Mourinho’s title charge is for real, even if he plays it down now and again to play mind games.

Nonetheless, Ferdinand delivered his brief verdict on Tottenham’s title chances following their goalless draw on Sunday and how both managers would have been ‘quietly pleased’ with the result.

“Two teams who I think are going to be up there in the mix,” said Ferdinand. “Definitely for Champions League places and as for title aspirations that remains to be seen.

“But I think Frank and Jose will quietly pleased with their weekend’s work.”

Aside from quality and tactics, Mourinho is a pure genius when it comes to playing mind games in a title charge.

There’s no doubt that as questions are going to be asked of Spurs in this title race that Mourinho will pull out the books of tricks in order to ensure his team gains an advantage.

It’s another reason why the North London outfit should be backed for a title challenge even if Liverpool have their injury problems and Manchester City have started the season slowly.
