Tottenham goalkeeper got off to an awful start on his return.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made his return to action last night in the Champions League.
Lining up against a star studded Barcelona, Lloris’ return did not go well at all.
Spurs conceded to a Coutinho goal after just two minutes, after Lloris came charging out to the edge of his box, failed to close down the Barcelona attack, and left the goal gaping.
He proceeded to spend more time picking the ball out of the back of his net over the course of the evening.
BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand was critical of the Frenchman for his role in conceding Tottenham’s first goal.
Ferdinand told the channel’s post-game coverage: “What he’s doing here?
“I’d like to hear his explanation at half-time.
“He knows he’s at fault. It’s a big mistake.”
Lloris’ error set the wrong tone for Tottenham and even in the second half he was nearly caught out with the ball at his feet.
The goalkeeper made a terrible error in the World Cup final which fortunately for France only led to a consolation goal.
It’s time for Lloris to start improving his decision making on the pitch as well as off it.
