Jurgen Klinsmann has told ESPN that Tottenham should be ‘rightfully concerned’ about potentially missing out on a European place this season as he warned them about the likes of West Ham and Everton.
The former Spurs player labelled David Moyes’ side, who are one place and two points above their London rivals, as ‘outstanding’.
It is a pretty jam-packed Premier League table with eighth-placed Aston Villa five points behind fourth-placed Liverpool with a game, and in some cases, two games in hand on those teams around them.
Spurs, Everton and West Ham are all in between Villa and given the close nature of those teams, those positions can change daily, nevermind weekly.
Nonetheless, Klinsmann was asked whether he worries about Spurs missing out on a European finish altogether given the nature of the top-eight and their most recent defeat.
“I think we are all rightfully concerned,” said Klinsmann. “Getting into the top-four in the Premier League is extremely, extremely difficult.
“And now having teams like Everton being there, even West Ham playing outstanding season under David Moyes.
“So, there is a lot of traffic up there in the top-eight or top nine. There is a certain sign of alertness. There is still a lot of work for them to do.”

What’s alarming for someone like Spurs is that whilst the likes of Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa scare them, there is also the little matter of their European-chasing neighbours – Chelsea and Arsenal – sitting ninth and tenth.
There is no doubt that a surprise or two will be on the cards at the end of the season, as Villa, Everton and David Moyes look to upset the apple cart.
The pressure will, of course, be on the likes of Spurs because of where their squad has been in recent seasons and the fact that they have Jose Mourinho in the dugout.
