Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Raphinha had received another call-up to the Brazil squad.
What’s the story?
Well, as happy as fans may be for Raphinha, this isn’t the most convenient news from a selfish point of view.
It only feels like it’s been about a week since his last call-up!
Annoyingly, another international break awaits us after the next two Premier League games – this season has been extremely disrupted.
Nevertheless, Raphinha is clearly impressing Tite, or else he wouldn’t have been named among the likes of Neymar once again as Brazil prepare to face Colombia and Argentina.
Interestingly, after his two goals against Uruguay in the last international break, Raphinha is now said to be wanted by Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain.
In truth, Leeds fans would probably prefer him to have a rest.
The £63,500-a-week man limped off in the 1-1 draw against Wolves following a gruesome challenge from Romain Saiss.
Raphinha confirmed he is okay, although he is certainly playing a lot of football right now – if Marcelo Bielsa loses him for an extended period, relegation could be a real possibility.
The dangers of Raphinha and Brazil for Leeds
As aforesaid, Neymar is believed to want Raphinha at PSG, after he was left dazzled by his efforts during the last international break.
As special as it is to see a Leeds player rubbing shoulders with some of the best on the planet, Raphinha’s rise is a concern for the Whites – again, purely from a selfish viewpoint.
With each passing game in which he impresses, his reputation enhances, and his admirers across Europe increase.
Unless Leeds continue to grow with him and match his ambitions, there could be a difficult conversation to be had in a year or two.
