Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Manchester United and Arsenal after their game at Old Trafford this weekend.

The Red Devils beat Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday, but many would probably argue that the Gunners were the better team on the day.

Arsenal may be top of the league, but the Old Trafford outfit are quickly closing in on thr north Londoners, sparking debate as to which team will finish higher this season.

Carragher has been discussing who he thinks is the better team right now, and he says that Arsenal have the slight edge.

What’s been said?

Carragher spoke about the two great Premier League rivals.

“Ten Hag has just started and he’s gone more pragmatic because he can’t play how this Arsenal team does right now. In two or three years’ time I think how Arsenal played, that’s how Manchester United will be playing, playing out from the back all the time through the lines. Right now I think Arsenal have the edge, but squad-wise that will be a big problem if you get injuries to certain players,” Carragher said.

Time will tell

Carragher says that Arsenal have a slight edge right now, and while the Premier League table reflects that, it’s hard to decide between these two sides at the moment.

Arsenal have been in great form – but you have to consider that they’ve had an easy start to the season, so their impressive points tally may not necessarily reflect how good they actually are.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are riding the crest of a wave after a great run over the past month, but they’re yet to truly dominate any of their last four matches, despite taking 12 points from this run of fixtures.

These are two teams that can be very patchy, and it will be interesting to see who finishes higher this season.
