Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason has given his take on Twitter on the Fulham goal against Jose Mourinho’s side being chalked off.
Tottenham got the better of Fulham 1-0 away from home at Craven Cottage in London in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
An own goal from Tosin Adarabioyo in the 19th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Fulham thought that they had equalised in the second half when Josh Maja had the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled out, as Mario Lemina was penalised for handball in the build-up despite his arm being by his side.
Former Tottenham midfielder Mason, who now works as a youth coach at Spurs, has said that he is happy with the final result, but he cannot believe the handball rule that led to Fulham’s equaliser being chalked off.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was following the match for BT Sports, and he does not like the handball rule either.
Ferdinand said on BT Sport 1 (8:10pm, March 4, 2021): “It’s crazy. If you see the reaction from the Fulham players after it happens when the decision gets made, a lot of them are suddenly saying, ‘It only hit my arm, my arm wasn’t out from my body. I stretched my arm’. It’s not about that… It’s a stupid rule.”
The result means that Fulham are now third from bottom in the Premier League table, while Tottenham are eighth in the standings.
