Steve Bruce had lauded Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho, as ‘one of the greats’ of the game, as he told the Chronicle.
The under-fire Newcastle boss just cannot believe the criticism he hears the Tottenham man receiving, as he labelled it as ‘ridiculous’.
Both Bruce and Mourinho have come under serious pressure this season, on different ends of the table, but at times, for the same reason – style of play.
Well, both will lock horns today at St James’ Park, with Bruce sharing his thoughts on his managerial counterpart.
“Whenever you play against Jose’s teams, you know you have to play well,” said Bruce. “They had a decent result last time out.
“For me, Jose, the criticism he receives is ridiculous in my opinion. He’s one of the greats. I’m expecting quality players in big areas of the pitch.”

A defeat for either team today will be met with a big backlash, but it does seem as though Bruce needs it more than most.
Newcastle are frantically looking over their shoulders and hoping they don’t suffer another relegation to the Championship.
Whilst Spurs fear missing out on another Champions League spot after moving into their big-money stadium.
