Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Calciomercato revealed that Fabio Paratici is eyeing a move for Roma defender Roger Ibanez.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Paratici wants to bring yet another defender to north London, and is targeting the 6-cap Brazil international.

Ibanez is currently shining under José Mourinho as Roma sit fourth in Serie A, with the centre-back making seven appearances in all competitions.

That has alerted Spurs to the South American’s qualities.

Paratici has already raided Italy’s top-flight for their reigning Defender of the Year Cristian Romero, who was signed from Atalanta for £42.5m.

Now, he wants to rob Mourinho of one of his best players in Ibanez.

The 22-year-old was also wanted by Arsenal in 2020.

Do Tottenham need Roger Ibanez?

Football is a funny game.

Last season, when Harry Kane and Heung-min Son were scoring for fun, it was Tottenham’s backline which was the problem.

Now, after three clean sheets from five Premier League games, it’s the attack which is proving problematic, with only three goals scored in those outings.

In that respect, Paratici needs to find Nuno Espirito Santo a new attacker, preferably a source of creativity.

As of September 14th, Tottenham had created the same amount of clear-cut goalscoring chances as Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. One. (WhoScored).

That is simply unacceptable. If the next signing Paratici makes isn’t a creative midfielder, there should be plenty of questions asked.

For now, let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying about Calciomercato‘s update…
