What a season it has been for West Ham United so far.
David Moyes masterminded a brilliant 3-2 win away to Crystal Palace in midweek as the Hammers moved fourth in the Premier League table.
We’re only halfway through the campaign and although it seems unlikely that West Ham will qualify for the Champions League, they’re still punching above their weight in a big way.
One reason for their form has been Tomas Soucek.
The 25-year-old joined the East Londoners in a £19 million permanent deal during the summer, after impressing on loan last term.
And so far, the Czech midfielder is West Ham’s joint-top goalscorer this season with seven after his first-half brace at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night.
And Micah Richards has been blown away by his form this season, noting that it’s ‘ridiculous’ how much he has stepped his game up.
Richards told Optus Sport: “Soucek, he has just taken his game to a different level. How much did they pay for him? He’s ridiculous! This is a player in great form, and he fully deserves it.”
The Irons have gone about their business pretty quietly up until now, up until hitting fourth in the Premier League table, and it’ll be so interesting to see if Moyes’s charges can maintain this standard for the rest of the campaign.
To put it into context, they have won more games than defending champions Liverpool, who are also one behind them in the standings, in fifth.
The Scottish boss has certainly had his doubters at West Ham, but he’s silencing them in a big way – and Soucek has played a massive role in that, too.
