Jamie O’Hara has been speaking to Sky Sports about the managerial vacancy at Wolves, and has tipped Sean Dyche to replace Bruno Lage.

O’Hara wants Dyche at Wolves

Well, the 51-year-old has been unemployed since being sacked by Burnley in April, although O’Hara believes he would be the perfect man for the vacancy at Molineux.

The 36-year-old said: “The one person that you need right now is Sean Dyche. He kept Burnley in the Premier League for a long period of time, fantastic manager. He will keep you in the Premier League. Wolves can’t afford to go down. He’s a brilliant manager, it’s ridiculous that he’s not in a job.”

Throughout his career, Dyche has managed to record 71 wins from 259 Premier League games as a manager, while also picking up 68 draws.

The Ginger Mourinho – as he was affectionately known at Turf Moor – also remarkably guided Burnley to seventh place in the 2017/18 campaign, which saw the Clarets qualify for the Europa League.

Unfortunately, Dyche could not steer Burnley past Olympiakos as they fell at the final qualification hurdle before the Group Stage, although that takes nothing away from his achievement.

Dyche is not right for Wolves

If Wolves were in genuine danger of being relegated, we would understand where O’Hara is coming from.

However, there is still a lot of football left to play this season, and Wolves have plenty of time to get out of the relegation zone – in truth, they are only one point away from Southampton in 17th.

Wolves have signed players such as Matheus Nunes and Goncalo Guedes in order to play a specific, attacking style with the intention of aiming higher in the Premier League – hiring Dyche would be an acceptance that they’ve gone backwards.

Dyche is an expert when it comes to working with industrial, solid footballers fighting against relegation, although this current crop of players at Molineux do not appear to suit his style.

Therefore, we think Wolves should ignore O’Hara and explore alternatives to Dyche.
