Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the controversy during the game between West Ham United and Chelsea this evening.

West Ham have suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at London Stadium in the Premier League.

Timo Werner’s goal in the 43rd minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.

West Ham were reduced to 10 men in the 81st minute when Fabian Balbuena was sent off.

Balbuena slipped and caught Ben Chillwell’s leg, and after a VAR check, the West Ham defender was sent off.

It was a controversial incident, and former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker has strongly criticised the decision.

The result means that West Ham are now fifth in the Premier League table with 55 points from 33 matches.

London rivals Chelsea are now fourth with 58 points, just a point behind third-placed Leicester City, who have played 32 games.

It is a blow to the Hammers’ chances of finishing in the Premier League top four, but all is far from over.

West Ham are doing well at the moment, and fans should be optimistic about a Champions League finish.
