Tottenham Hotspur fans are frustrated after claims that they would have landed Milan Skriniar if they had just been a little earlier in making their bid.

FC Inter News says that Tottenham’s pursuit would have been successful if they had targeted Skriniar early on in the summer.

Spurs left it late to make their push to sign the Slovakian, and in the end, Inter knocked back their offers.

Coming close to getting such an impressive player has hurt some Tottenham fans, while others want the club to make sure they are in position to sign him in January.

If Tottenham were to bring in Skriniar he could be the final piece of their jigsaw.

Spurs have depth in almost every position now, but adding one more central defender really would be the icing on the cake.

Tottenham already have some strong options at the club, with Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga all able to perform in the heart of their backline.

However, they have not yet brought in a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, and having a fifth central defensive options would give Jose Mourinho even more security at the back.
