Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left baffled by Jose Mourinho’s confirmation to Football London that Toby Alderweireld will start tonight.
With Tottenham 4-1 up and cruising in the tie, Mourinho has suggested that he is still keen to name a strong team later against Wolfsberger AC.
However, his decision to play Alderweireld has not gone down well with Spurs fans.
Tottenham supporters were hoping that the Belgium international would be drafted into their Premier League side.
But the news that he is set to feature tonight has left Tottenham followers fearing another run out for Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.
If Alderweireld does play tonight it does seem unlikely that he will feature at the weekend.
Mourinho has generally been reluctant to use the veteran twice in such a short space of time.
Mourinho has shown great faith in Dier during his time at Tottenham, but the England international has been in woeful form of late, and there must be concerns about his performances now.
