Chris Sutton was left stunned after a supporter on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 programme claimed that he would pick Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka over Liverpool defender Andy Robertson.

The talk was around how many Scotland players would get into this current England set-up, with the caller firmly believing that Liverpool’s title-winner wouldn’t start ahead of Arsenal’s teenager.

Whilst Ben Chilwell is England’s number one at left-back, it was Saka who started the win against the Republic of Ireland last Thursday and then he came on as a first-half substitute for the injured Chelsea man during their defeat in Belgium last night.

Former Premier League striker Sutton made sure to mention what Robertson has won in his career when arguing against the Saka claims.

“You would have Saka over Robertson?” asked Sutton. “Are you serious? Come on, let’s be serious.

“Hang on a minute. Robertson has won a Champions League and a Premier League!

“Ridiculous. He [Saka] plays at a higher level than Andy Robertson of Liverpool? I think they are sort of the same level isn’t it?!”

There’s no doubt that Saka is a highly-rated talent and his recent performances for England prove that he is worthy of playing on the international stage.

Plus, when you can stand up and be the star performer during Arsenal’s inconsistent start to the season then you have something special in your locker.

But Robertson has been established for a number of seasons now, he has guided Scotland to their first major tournament in 22 years and he has Premier League and Champions League medals around his neck.
