Manchester United will sell Dimitar Berbatov this summer and replace him with a new striker. Should it be any of these two?
Time up number nine. Dimitar Berbatov has had his opportunities, and it is time for him to move on from the Old Trafford bench. His agent said this week that United would likely look to replace him with a pacier striker. Who should they sign?
Ricky van Wolfswinkel
Age: 23
Nationality: Dutch, one cap
Club: Sporting Lisbon
Goals record: 60 goals in 150 career appearances. This includes 47 in 114 for Dutch clubs Vitesse and FC Utrecht, and 17 in 35 for Sporting Lisbon.
Scored against: Notably he scored a crucial goal in the Europa League against Manchester City, which helped knock them out last week, and also netted a hat-trick against Celtic for Utrecht.
Likely cost? He signed for the Portuguese side for £5 million last summer, but would likely now cost around £12 million if United wanted to buy him.
Leandro Damiao
Age: 22
Nationality: Brazilian, five caps and one goal
Club: Internacional
Goals record: He has 52 goals in 86 club games, including 40 in 51 last season.
Scored against: Damiao netted against Barcelona in a friendly last year, proving his capability of mixing it with Europe’s elite.
Likely cost? The Brazilian is the highest rated striker in his homeland apart from Neymar, and would likely spark a bidding war. United would have to pay around £25 million.
