Rickie Lambert has admitted it would be a ‘dream’ if Liverpool could sign PSG star Kylian Mbappé this summer, as he told talkSPORT (23/08/20 at 3:05 pm).
The former Anfield striker stated that when Liverpool announced their new sponsorship deal with Nike earlier on in the year, he felt that a ‘marquee’ signing, such as Mbappé, would follow.
Mbappé was in action last night as PSG were beaten in the Champions League final by Bayern Munich, who just like Liverpool last season, lifted their sixth European Cup.
Ahead of the new Premier League season, Lambert, who is a boyhood Liverpool fan, shared that Jurgen Klopp needs to add more depth to the forward line.
“I would like to see Liverpool bring in at least one more forward to help with the goals, to help the front three and to give it a little bit more competition.,” Lambert told talkSPORT.
On who he’d sign if he had a blank cheque: “You always dream, don’t you? I was thinking with Nike taking over, every time you take over a team, they always have a marquee signing. I was hoping Mbappé or something.
“But I think he is out of our reach, to be honest.”

- UEFA Super Cup

Not many players in world football would push ahead of Liverpool’s front three – Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah.
But Mbappé, who can play out wide and through the middle, would certainly be a player capable of benching either of those front three players despite their world-class qualities.
During the recently concluded season, Mbappé struck 30 goals and supplied 19 assists for PSG in all competitions, including scoring five times in the Champions League.
