Newcastle United and Southampton are both being linked with Richmond Boakye.

Red Star Belgrade forward Richmond Boakye has told Sports World Ghana that he is expecting to join a Premier League club in the January transfer window.
Boakye was on the books of Juventus after showing promise for Genoa and Sassuolo, but has endured a nomadic career which has taken him to Spain, Netherlands, Serbia and China.
After smashing 39 goals in 48 games for Red Star Belgrade, Boakye earned a big move to China with Jiangsu Suning, but after just three goals in 16 appearances, he was sold back to Red Star in August.
Boakye is already back among the goals, scoring three times in four games for Red Star this term, and he may well be on the move in 2019 off the back of his goalscoring form.
Sports World Ghana report that Brighton and Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town, Southampton and Watford are leading the race, with Ghana Soccernet claiming that Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are keen too.
Now, Boakye has told Sports World Ghana that he is expecting to move to England in January, believing his move to the Premier League is imminent.

“I think is the dream of most of the players to play in England but I think this season my move to England is going to happen,” said Boakye. ”I’m not going to give details but it will surely happen before January. In two – three months it will happen, it’s not that I am going to hope for, it will happen.”
”I don’t think a club will sell a player and buy him back in six months if there isn’t something on the pipeline. But we are both going to work together and I will give my best for it to happen and like I said latest January it has to happen,” he added.
Southampton certainly need a goal threat alongside Danny Ings, with Shane Long, Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini struggling for goals, but Newcastle may have the greatest need of all.
Rafael Benitez’s men are struggling for goals from their strikers, and Boakye could be a solution – especially given the limited budget Newcastle will have in the January transfer window.
