Everton forward Richarlison has sent a message to Liverpool central midfielder Thiago Alcantara on Twitter.
The Brazil international has apologised to Thiago for his late challenge on him during the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old Everton forward was dismissed on 90 minutes for a foul on Thiago, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said after the game that Thiago told him that “he thinks he got injured” because of the challenge, as quoted on the Reds’ official website.
Richarlison has issued an apology to Thiago and to his Everton teammates on Twitter.
The Brazilian wrote on the social networking site, which when translated from Portuguese reads: “I apologise to Thiago and my teammates for what happened today.”
Nice gesture
It is very nice of Richarlison to issue a public apology to Thiago, and the Everton forward should be praised for it.
Liverpool fans, as well as supporters of rival clubs, will hope that Spain international midfielder Thiago was not seriously hurt, and that he will not be out of action.
It was a very eventful Merseyside derby that ended in a 2-2 draw, with Jordan Henderson having a goal ruled out for Liverpool in injury time.
