Everton’s start to the season is beyond almost every fan’s wildest dreams. The Toffees have won every game in every competition they have played in so far, and it doesn’t look like they will stop there.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side had a fantastic transfer window. The signings of James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan really boosted the squad’s confidence, and their performances on the pitch are a reflection of that.

Everton’s three new midfielders have all started the season in brilliant fashion. However, their most productive player this term has been Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Englishman has started six games in all competitions so far and has scored nine goals already. Calvert-Lewin has two hat-tricks to his name this term, which has surprised many considering he was nowhere near as prolific last year.

His strike partner Richarlison has helped him become the player he is today, and the Brazilian has even compared his leap to that of Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

He told FIFA: “Dominic’s development has been really impressive. He’s transformed into a complete striker. I remember when I got here he was nothing like the player he is today. It’s down to the work he’s put in. He’s in the gym every day, he’s always working on his finishing.

“And playing under Ancelotti, he’ll keep getting better and better. He’s had a superb start to the season and without doubt, deserved his England call-up. He must be a nightmare to play against and he has an incredible leap on him like Cristiano Ronaldo.”

That is a brilliant compliment for Calvert-Lewin but there is a lot more to come from him. The Englishman is still only 23 and, with the likes of Rodriguez, Andre Gomes and Richarlison feeding him, he should be aiming for the Golden Boot.

Ancelotti has publicly stated that he will have a problem with Calvert-Lewin if he fails to score 20 goals this season (Liverpool Echo). The 23-year-old is already almost halfway there and, if he can keep going, a 30-goal season is a very serious possibility.
